5 Harsh Truths You Wish You Knew Earlier

While growing up, our parents taught us some valuable life lessons(in other words, Truth) that we will carry with us forever. With time we learn some more lessons through our experiences in life. Sometimes the lessons come the easy way, and sometimes not so much. Either way, we understand and we grow.

But many times we are fed with the lies that the world has repeatedly told us about. Those lies condition our minds to such levels that we start working on ourselves believing in those lies, which unfortunately leads to our improper development at the psychological level and affects other areas of our lives.

In Taittiriya Upanishad (an Indian scripture), there is a verse that goes like this: Satyam Shivam Sundaram; it means Truth is God and God is Beautiful. So, truth is beautiful, regardless of whether it is lenient or harsh.

There are certain harsh truths that everyone needs to know. Some truths that you wish you had known earlier.

1. Money is Important

The truth about money

Yes, it is. You might have heard people say that money is not important, money can’t help you, money won’t make your life easier, etc. Well, it does. It does make your life easier, it does bring better opportunities for you, it solves a lot of problems for you. Money is among those resources that can elevate your life completely if you have plenty of it. But beware, never become a slave to money.

Never get into a habit of mindless spending just to impress strangers. Money is only good till it is in your control, but when it starts controlling you, you are doomed.

2. Your Social Media profile is not your entire life

It is just a website that is designed by smart people to keep you hooked. Ever wondered how you wasted hours on social media? How could you possibly spend that much time on an app that doesn’t elevate your life, and yet you struggle to give even 1 hour to upskill yourself, to read a book, to learn something? It all lies in the way these apps are designed.

They want your attention because they make billions out of it. And you keep on giving in to these apps and waste your precious time. Wake up to reality. Your life won’t change by looking at others’ lives on social media. Your life won’t change by posting fake lifestyles on social media or even by posting filtered photos to gain a few likes. It’s all virtual, it doesn’t exist in real life.

Tomorrow if these social media apps get banned/discontinued, what would you do then? All your virtual achievements, all of your virtual lifestyle, everything will be gone. You’ll feel like a part of you is gone, you’ll feel empty. So, never rely on any such thing that can drain your energy, affect your attention span, make you insecure and waste your time without getting anything positive in return.

3. You don’t need Parties and Clubs to enjoy

You can enjoy your life however you like. Don’t feel compelled to go to clubs to enjoy your life just because your peers are going there every weekend. You can enjoy yourself, be an interesting person and still stay away from clubs(if you wish to). The reason is, that people often end up spending way too much in clubs than they intended to, also, we know what kind of environment is there in the clubs.

Still, it is your personal choice, but never feel like that is the only place. There are so many other ways of enjoying, you just need to do some exploring.

4. What you Eat, Drink and Breathe decides your trajectory

Ever seen people who eat unhealthy foods, drink alcohol and smoke different substances all the time? How’s their health? How do function in our daily lives? Do they feel energetic to you? Do they have any life left in them? Answer honestly. We all have seen such people at least once. The truth is, everything that we know, that our parents warned us about is harmful for us. But the problem is that it’s uncool these days to even listen to what our parents saying, let alone follow their advice.

Don’t eat junk(if you can’t avoid it completely, limit your junk intake to a minimum), Don’t smoke anything, and Don’t drink any alcoholic beverage. Following these alone will help you figure out the right path.

5. People are too busy to think about you

Yes. Get out of your head and stop taking yourself seriously all the time. People have their own lives to worry about, and they probably don’t give a damn about you. Never waste your time thinking about other people all the time. Life is much more than just wasting thinking about others and keeping people rent-free in your mind. No one does that to you, so you shouldn’t do that to others too.

Never feel like you have a big crowd of people whose approval you have to take before doing anything and after doing anything. Work on your goals, improve yourself and make yourself better. Never worry about others’ approval and validation.

So, these were the 5 harsh truths that everyone needs to know regardless of age. Well, there are many more such harsh truths which we will cover later. Focus on the above 5 points I mentioned above and work on your goals for a better you.
