Doing better in life is the dream of all of us. Every individual walking on the planet wants to do good in life, some do and some don’t. What makes the difference? What becomes the deciding factor in one person’s success and another person’s failure? The answer is “Habits”.
Your habits build you and also break you. You choose to decide what habits you want to inculcate in your life. Good habits work like a boon meanwhile bad habits turn out to be the worst form of bane. In this article, we will discuss 7 Bad Habits That Are Keeping You Behind In Life.
1. Drinking
Isn’t it obvious? Drinking does no good to your body or to your mind, it only worsens your condition physically, mentally and emotionally. You might feel good for a while as your real-life problems cease to exist for those moments. But later on, when you realize that nothing changed in the real world and all you were doing was running away from your real-life issues and living in illusion, you start suffering more in your mind.
Additionally, you’ll never find a person doing good in their(in all aspects of life) being addicted to drinking. Even if you find some successful people doing that in the present, you’ll see what happens to them in the coming years. Time is ruthless for those who don’t leave their bad habits.
2. Clubbing
Delusional people go to the clubs to seek attention and validation thinking they are getting everything they need in life. Why am I saying this? Because almost all of the people at clubs are insecure about their lives, their social status or even their choices. They think doing this will make them look cool and that they will get all the attention and validation(from supposedly the wrong crowd). They want to fit in at a place that doesn’t do any good to them, especially ladies.
It is also a waste of time. No one forms healthy, long term and profound relationships at clubs. Everyone just wants to do all kinds of intoxication possible and do the weirdest things known to man. So in my opinion, clubbing culture is ruining our society.
3. Smoking
All wanna-be cool dudes and gals are going to get offended. Good, please get offended, But it won’t change the fact that smoking is among the worst things you can do to not only yourself but people around you. You are not only affecting your health through first-hand smoke, you are also affecting others’ health through second-hand smoke. For that cheap dopamine, you are trading your lifetime worth of potential. Many think it doesn’t harm as they are still healthy in the present and don’t find any issues, yes, you don’t have them now but you’ll surely have them in the future. And at that time, it’ll be too late.
4. Eating Junk Food
At a young age, people tend to not care about their eating habits and fall prey to all kinds of trash in the name of food. The ‘food’ from that restaurant you find tasty, is harmful for you. Not because it’s tasty but because of the way it’s made to feel tasty. And all of the businesses, small or large, only work for profits. They will use cheaper and more harmful ingredients instead of using good quality ingredients to make a few extra bucks at the cost of your health. So, it’s better if you don’t make it a habit of eating outside regularly.
5. Porn and Masturbation
The internet revolution brought with itself certain dark sides to it, one of them being ‘Pornography’. Almost all of the young people who are affected by this addiction have got addicted at a young age, probably in their early teenage years. A problem that starts at a young age affects the brain and the body of that young person in many ways. And this needs to be solved, the porn industry needs to be discontinued. But we know one thing for sure, that the industry is not going anywhere soon, it’s up to us to take action and start boycotting this cruel industry that has been exposed by many women who have worked in the industry in the past. To solve this problem and fight your addiction, you can read a comprehensive article that I wrote on this topic by clicking here, or by following the link: https://vajrabahu.com/blogs/breaking-free-a-comprehensive-guide-for-nofap-to-overcoming-fap-addiction-and-reclaiming-control/
6. Gaming
Although not a big issue in one’s life if done in moderation, excessive gaming may waste your precious time and energy that can be used for some other more important tasks and activities. Gaming in itself isn’t harmful, it’s the attachment to it that makes gaming a bad habit. People get addicted to gaming because they enjoy levelling up in the virtual world and are scared of facing the reality of the real world. Also, it’s way easier to level up in games than in real life and people are habitual of cheap dopamine and good feeling in the short term.
So the solution to this problem is to be mindful of how much is too much and utilize time, energy and resources in more important tasks that will level you up in real life. This is how you get dopamine the hard way, and it is good for you.
7. Social Media
A revolutionary way of creating business, becoming successful, showcasing your art and whatnot. Social media has become a crucial part of many people’s lives, and that’s where people tend to make a big mistake. They are always glued to their phones using social media, scrolling post after post, waiting for people to like their pics, messaging each other etc. This is a form of addiction that is making permanent changes in our minds. What’s that? Too much exposure to short-form content(like reels, shorts and other short-form video content) reduces our attention span…PERMANENTLY. So your ability to concentrate on the task at hand gets reduced and you’ll find ways to distract yourself.

Conclusion
To conclude, I would like to say that these 7 habits will create big obstacles in your life if you don’t take action today. So, instead of getting lured by short-term pleasures and cheap dopamine, aim for long-term satisfaction and happiness. Because most people are numbing their minds by getting addicted to some or all of the above habits, it becomes important to make people aware of the ill effects that can destroy their lives in front of their eyes.
